Air-Britain's Fly-In is the longest established UK Fly-In organised independently by and for aviation enthusiasts by Air-Britain (Events) Ltd, in association with The Squadron at the North Weald Airfield in Essex. It aims to :
Bring aviation enthusiasts, historians, pilots and anyone interested in aviation together in a relaxed aviation atmosphere to enable the sharing of experiences.
Offer the public, the opportunity to see what Air-Britain offers and to learn more about aviation and its rich history.
Provide aviation enthusiasts with the opportunity to appreciate, photograph and talk to the operators of the aircraft attending.
Enable Air Britain members to meet its Trustees and executive officers and to socialise with fellow members and like-minded historians and enthusiasts.
Please note there is no flying display.
As 2018 is Air-Britain’s 70th anniversary of we would like to gather together as many aircraft built of first flew in 1948 and we would especially welcome any pilot who is 70 years old in 2018. If you know of any pilots who will be marking their 70th birthday in 2018, please bring our event to their attention. Whatever the age of the pilot or aircraft all aircraft types, especially those from the vintage and classic eras, and pilots are invited to join us for our Fly-In.
Every year we recognise some aviation anniversaries, so in addition to the above this year we are marking the 80th anniversary of North American T-6 Harvard (aka Texan & SNJ), one of the key training aircraft used by the USAF, RAF and Commonwealth forces. The Harvard has a long association with North Weald, as it was the home of the Harvard Formation Team during the 1980s and 90s. We would also like to mark the 70th anniversary of the first flight of the classic post war American tourer, the Cessna 170.
