The New Boar is an established Boutique Hotel nestled in the village of Abridge, Essex.
Located in the Roding Valley between the market towns of Epping and Loughton and with easy access to the M11 and M25, Abridge is only 20 minutes approx drive from Canary Wharf and 45 minutes to the West End by tube.
Formally the Blue Boar, re-opened 2023 after refurbishment, the newly refurbished Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge is open seven days a week.
THE RESTAURANT
The New Boar Chef’s have locally sourced meats to prepare for your liking, working hard to bring you the best quality food to your table. The New Boar Menus are developed weekly to bring you the best in seasonal dishes for lunch & evenings. The vibrant dining room seats parties up to 16 or a private dining experience for you & your guests.
THE BAR
A Lounge Cocktail Bar Weekends & evenings offers small plates plus a mix of classic & contemporary cocktails. An afternoon can soon turn to evening. With a selection of wines from around the world & extensive range of spirits, you’ll quickly find a new drink to enjoy.
THE HOTEL
With 5 rooms offering both a quiet night or a base to further explore Essex from. Each individually designed room has modern comfortable conveniences. Enjoy king-size beds, free WiFi, Parking, Flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffee facilities. With the New Boar Deli next door offering Breakfast from 8am daily or 9am on Sundays.
Please note that check-in times are in line with licensing hours, and there is no check-in after 21:00 or 20:00 on Sundays.

Road Directions
The Blue Boar is in the centre of Abridge on the A113 where the bridge, after which the village is named, is a historic crossing point on the River Roding.
Approach Abridge from the east along the Ongar Road, past Stapleford Airfield, when coming from Romford or Ongar/Brentwood.
Approach from the west on the Abridge Road when coming from Chigwell and the M11 junction 5 (note you can only leave this junction north bound and join south bound).
Approach from the north when coming from M25 junction 26 or Epping Forest via Theydon Bois.
The Blue Boar has a car park.
Public Transport Directions
Buses stop in the Market Place outside The Blue Boar. Stapleford Airfield is a few miles away along the Ongar Road. The nearest station is Chigwell or Theydon Bois on the Central Line.
