Fly Spitfire, Harvard or Tiger Moth from historic North Weald Airfield
Operated by Aero Legends
We're pleased to announce we are accepting flight bookings for Spitfire Passenger Flights, Harvard and Tiger Moth Trial Lessons from North Weald Airfield.
To fly in a Spitfire is the ultimate bucket list experience, so why compromise? Book an Aero Legends Spitfire Flight Experience. We operate two Two-Seat Spitfires and both have been converted to the Vickers Supermarine dual control, two-seat design. This gives you the full Spitfire experience with excellent visibility over the famous elliptical wing throughout your Spitfire Flight.
The Harvard was the next step for a WWII trainee RAF fighter pilot. We can offer an incredibly rare opportunity to have a trial flying lesson in one of these aircraft. The Harvard is much more powerful than the gentle Tiger Moth, it is a sturdy all metal aircraft with a retractable undercarriage and 600 hp PW radial engine which makes it much more like a fighter to fly. This made the Harvard the ideal trainer for an aspiring fighter pilot. A trial flying lesson in the T6 Harvard is an amazing experience. We not only give you the opportunity to fly in the Harvard, you also take the controls yourself and actually fly a warbird.
The Tiger Moth is a classic 1930s open cockpit biplane that most of the RAFs pilots learnt to fly before progressing to such types as the Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster, Sunderland etc. There are only a small number of Tiger Moths that remain fully certified for Trial Flying Lessons. Therefore, this represents a rare opportunity to undertake a flight in one of these classic aircraft and experience what it was like to be a trainee pilot in WWII.
We are proud to have probably some of the most experienced pilots on these Marques flying for us. Many of which have long and successful careers with the RAF including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Red Arrows.
North Weald airfield is an historic site and has been in operation across both World Wars and was one of the 11 Group bases during WW2. This location has the history and ambience exactly suited to our range of flight experiences and we are looking forward regularly flying our Spitfires out of North Weald.
Our flying and aviation-related experiences at North Weald are based at The Squadron. We plan to continue our flying season at North Weald through the winter making the most of some beautifully clear days and both tarmac runways.
