Visitors to the Epping Forest District are spoilt for choice when it comes to pubs – especially those looking for the traditional welcome of a pub that has served its community for hundreds of years and prides itself on it range of ales, spirts and beverages. Many of the pubs also serve food and most welcome families. Parking isn’t usually a problem and given the country nature of our district many have beautiful gardens and country views.

Some of our pubs, like the Woodbine on the edge of the forest, have won awards and some offer beers and ciders produced locally. Sometimes busy in the towns and villages, you can still find pubs right out in the countryside that make the travelling as rewarding as the destination. Try the Rainbow and Dove at Hastingwood, the Mole Trap at Tawney Common or the John Barleycorn at Threshers Bush if you like to be out of the way.

Wherever you end up you’ll find a warm welcome, refreshing drink, often bar food or a restaurant, maybe entertainment and even accommodation. The perfect stop for refreshments as you explore, a place to eat and drink, meet friends or just to unwind and watch the sun go down at the end of the day.
