Abbey Performing Arts Videos
This video was made by Abbey performing arts to send Christmas wishes to students and their families, on the day that we would usually be putting on our famous Pantomime at Waltham Abbey town hall.
Abbey Performing arts have been bringing Christmas magic to the town Hall for over 10 years & we are greatly supported by our local community. So we were heartbroken to have to cancel this event during lockdown.
The students have embraced the tradition of Panto & we enjoy this festive start to our Christmas season every year.
Each panto we strive to improve, writing a bespoke Panto for our students so every child has a part & a role to play. We sing, dance & act our way through the story with much interaction with the audience.
We look forward to returning once we are able to and getting back on stage with our students stars!

In the first lockdown – Abbey performing arts closed its doors to keep everyone safe. Whilst at home all the students & some family member & tutors all learned to sign…’Stay home, Stay safe’.
An important message, which at the time was very new to us. We feel it was a way of keeping our students engaged in performing arts from the safety of their own homes. Bringing us together whist apart.
Every summer we perform a musical at the Waltham Abbey town hall – and it’s the highlight of our summer – closely followed by a themed summer ball, which also includes our annual prize giving for LAMDA examination awards, and outstanding achievements.
In 2020 we were honoured to receive EFDC creativity award, and look forward to inviting those involved in the project to celebrate with us at our next event.

As part of the VE celebration 2020 Waltham Abbey town council were organising an event in the town hall – at which Abbey performing arts were to be the entertainment. We began looking at war time stories & songs and rehearsing together. Due to lockdown restrictions we were unable to perform on the day. Therefore we recorded our monologues to appear on our page in honour of VE day. This speech from the diary of Anne Frank sees one of our students portray Anne as she’s writing whist in hiding concealed from the Nazis in Amsterdam. Performed by Grace, aged 10.

In this speech, celebrating the role of women in the war effort, our students recreated the image and the atmosphere of the work put in to support the troops, working together as a community and a nation.
