A very special fundraiser for the NJA, this is a huge "welcome back" to the irrepressible vocalist Ms LILY DIOR and a celebration of International Womens Day 2024. Her phenomenal vocal power and her unique musical storytelling prowess focuses on the life and times of the equally irrepressible NINA SIMONE.
And for this very exciting, live music event, we're pleased to welcome three of the UK's world class jazz sidemen, Neville Malcom on bass, Simon Wallace on keyboards and Paul Robinson on drums. Making this event even more special, Paul Robinson was Nina's UK drummer for 20 years and has a globally impressive CV that includes working with Van Morrison Paul McCartney Jan Hammer Eric Bibb, Mose Allison, Rod Stewart and Pet Shop Boys. Simon Wallace is a familiar face on the British jazz scene and has been musical director for jazz singers Clare Teal, Ian Shaw, Gill Manly and Claire Martin. He has recorded with Jeff Beck, been a member of The Waterboys and has played and arranged for Kylie Minogue, Sinead O’Connor, Boy George, Sandy Shaw, Lulu, Suggs, Marianne Faithful, Ronnie Corbett and many others.
And to wrap this stellar line-up, Lily's Quartet is completed by bass phenomenon , Neville Malcom. "Level Neville" worked with Philip Bent and Steve Williamson and became an integral part of London’s Acid Jazz scene. He's performed and recorded with Billy Cobham, Gabrielle, Tom Jones and Jack DeJohnette and Incognito
World class jazz comes to Loughton once again and, in support of International Women’s Day 2024, Ladies & Gentlemen....The Lily Dior Quartet !!!
