Darren Tansley (River Catchment Coordinator at Essex Wildlife Trust) explains how and why beavers have returned to Essex after an absence of many hundreds of years. Delving into the benefits for both wildlife and humans, he looks at how this pair of large rodents has already transformed the landscape at Spains Hall and why they are not only helping reduce flooding, but also drought. In a final twist he'll tell us how beavers are assisting Citizen Scientists to map mammal species across the whole river catchment using DNA in water samples.
