About
Buster KEaton's The General (U)
Screening on Saturday 9 Feb at 6.15pm
Tickets £9 adults, £3 children (16yrs and under)
Buster Keaton stars in this silent comedy classic as a locomotive driver during the American Civil War. When his favourite engine, The General, is stolen by spies, the plucky driver gives chase – and chaos ensues. Shot using real engines and featuring the best slapstick of Keaton’s career – if you’ve never seen a silent film before, this is the one to start with. A treat for adults and children alike.
This film will be accompanied by world renowed pianist Neil Brand. Neil has composed original scores for Alfred Hitchcock’s Blackmail, and Anthony Asquith’s Underground, both of which were performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
His new BBC4 TV show, The Sound of Musicals, starts on Friday 14th December.
He is also the writer and presenter of the highly acclaimed BBC4 television shows The Sound of Cinema and The Sound of Song. We’re absolultely delighted to welcome him to Epping.
This event has been made possible with the generous support of Maggie and Victor Knope.
