Chris Ingham’s celebration of Hoagy Carmichael is packed with the songs and stories of one of America’s most enduring and endearing songwriters. Wry, wise, sentimental, down-home and sophisticated, Hoagy’s songs are beloved for their warmth, wit and melodic beauty. This joyful, edifying and heartfelt salute to the Old Music Master features many engaging anecdotes and insights along with tracks from Chris’s acclaimed CD including well-loved hits alongside obscure nuggets and delightful curiosities from Hoagy’s rich and varied songbook.

With Chris will be Paul Higgs on trumpet, Geoff Gascoyne on bass and George Double on drums.

Chris Ingham formed his jazz quartet in 2013 and has led over 150 performances of his Hoagy Carmichael, Dudley Moore and Stan Getz repertoire projects all over the UK. He is also musical director/pianist/MC and an erstwhile music educator. He has been a record producer for Ruthie Henshall and Joanna Eden and is the author of 'The Rough Guide to The Beatles' and 'The Rough Guide to Frank Sinatra'.

This fundraising concert for the National Jazz Archive will be in Loughton, Essex on Saturday 5 November. Tickets will also be on sale at the Elaine Delmar concert on 9 April.

Road Directions

Loughton Methodist Church is at the north end of Loughton High Road (A121). Plenty of car parking at the library and leisure centre car park a short way down Traps Hill which is opposite the church.

Nearest motorway junctions are 27 on the M25 or junction 5 on the M11 (note his is a restricted access junction and you can only leave on the northbound carriageway, and only join on the southbound carriageway). Follow the signage to Loughton.

Nearest station is Loughton on the Central Line.
