Glass Fusing : Pendants
Wednesday 1st May 2019 to Wednesday 26th June 2019
7pm to 9pm
Tutor: Pippa Davismoon
Course Fee £110 (plus a £10 annual membership fee)
The course covers the basics of fusing by looking at glass compatibility, transparent and opaque colour (using sheet glass and frits) and types of fuses, contour and tack. We will also be using kiln paper/rope for both holes, slumps, glue, clay moulds and cold working to finish off pieces.
We will begin by making full fused glass pendants. Other things that can be made are earrings, cuff links, and light catchers or other small hanging pieces and, in the last few weeks, a soap dish or ring dish. Please note the glass work you can do in this class is small scale jewellery and hand-held sized pieces.
Bring an apron/old shirt, a notebook and pencil and enthusiasm!
Costs: Whilst you are working with small jewellery items the cost of glass is included in the course fee. If you wish to purchase specific colours or extra frits or sheet glass for dishes I will advise where you can buy this from. You will need to purchase thongs and bails for pendants and findings for earrings and cufflinks too - these can be bought at Hobbycraft or via the internet. This short course runs for 8 weeks.
