Free house: Large and varied selection of beers, real ales, fine wines and malt whiskies. Member of Casque Marque.
Theydon Oak is a great place to visit and have a drink. Located in Epping, Essex, this quaint pub has an open fire, comfortable seating and plenty of room for you to relax and meet with friends. Our outside patio area has been constructed with easy access from the bar and ideal for our smoking customers. As proud members of Casque Marque our bar at the Theydon Oak has a wide selection of real ales, lagers, beers, bottles and soft drinks as well as favourite sundries like crisps and peanuts. We have been recognised for our fantastic well stocked bar and as such we are now officially featured in the 'The Good Beer Guide' and 'The Good Pub Guide.'
You will immediately be taken by the sense of history that surrounds you. Exposed beams decorated with genuine horse brasses and antiques adorning every alcove. An inglenook fireplace that houses real log fires to welcome guests during the cold winter months. Areas of the original brickwork laid down over 400 years ago can still be seen. You will also find an excellent selection of freshly made food from the bar.
Dining: Multi-award winning dining pub. Delicious home cooked food. Fresh locally sourced ingredients. Proudly awarded 5 out of 5 food hygiene award. Serving 7 days.
For something a little more special, why not treat yourself to a meal in our highly acclaimed a la carte restaurant. Open for both lunch and dinner every day of the week, it provides the perfect setting for that special occasion or important business lunch. To satisfy demand, the restaurant has been enlarged to seat around 80 people. Naturally, home cooked food remains the feature of our cuisine. This is accompanied by a selection of the more exotic dishes guaranteed to satisfy even the most demanding palette. Fine wines, vintage champagnes and a large selection of malt whiskies are also an attribute of the restaurant. The Theydon Oak only use fresh ingredients, locally sourced to create value-for-money, home cooked, interesting dishes, which are guaranteed to tempt you. It is advisable to book a table, especially at weekends, public holidays or for a special celebration.
We are very proud to announce that every year consistently we have been awarded 5 out of 5 star ratings for food hygiene from the Government's Official Food Standards Agency. You can be rest assured that our kitchens are hygienic, completely clean and safe.
Garden: As you approach, you cannot fail to be enchanted by the rural charm. Festooned with flowering baskets and framed by mature trees of Epping Forest, which can only hint at the treat that awaits you. It may also account for the fact that the Theydon Oak is almost certainly one of the most photographed pubs in Essex. On lazy summer days you can relax on one of the three spacious patios and eat ‘al fresco’ from the extensive menu. With our very own stream meandering through the picturesque listed gardens, is it any wonder that we have won many local awards.
Children's play area: We have recently completed refurbising our seperate fully enclosed all weather childrens playground. The children can play in safety in our thoughtfully laid out play area while parents or carers enjoy a seat and a bite to eat in the many picnic tables within the enclosed playground. Once the kids have worked up an appetite, we have a great children's menu with tasty nutritious meals to choose from. We are currently offering exclusive hire of the playground for kids parties please contact us or click on the functions tab for more information.
